Development of a 200 acre mixed use dockside development in Salford Quays Manchester. All major highways, structures, earthworks cut and fill, piling works, S278 works, drainage and sub structures.

Additional Details

• A significant current infrastructure project with a turnover in excess of £1 million per month including 2Km of 7.3 metre wide highway infrastructure plus footpaths and cycle ways, extensive drainage, new utilities and enabling works.

• Management of hazardous materials treated for reuse on site with approval of E.A. Disposal of 120,000m³ off site from urban location. Excavate and cap piles and construct retaining walls.

• Site clearance, excavation, construct piling mats, removal of redundant drainage and culverts. Construct ground beams, install drainage, concrete floor slabs.

• Installation of underground 2.5 metre dia. air ducts and associated structures for utilities installation works. Design and construction of air ducts proposed by Hewlett as part of VE exercise. Significant savings were generated on the project.

• Extensive site wide drainage installation works including 1.5Km of 8 metre deep surface water drainage requiring deep well point dewatering plus 4Km of up to 450mm foul drainage rising mains to a new pump station constructed in existing highway.

• Installation of a 9 metre deep, 5 metre diameter foul pumping station, anchored into the rock head with piles to prevent flotation.

• Coffer dam construction carried out for installation of outfall chambers into Manchester Ship Canal. 1350mm outfall pipe taken through 3 metre thick dock walls.
