British Gypsum
Scheme Outline: Hewlett were engaged to complete the infrastructure works required for the construction of the new Gypsum plant in Sherburn, Yorkshire. The plant was a new facility to recycle plasterboard materials, requiring extraction of the Gypsum for reuse in the production of new plasterboard.

Additional Details
- The existing ground upon which the new extension had to be constructed was highly contaminated with tipped Gypsum which had to be removed and remediated.
- As a part of the project Hewlett were required to undertake the removal and remediation of 120,000m³ of tipped gypsum board plus 75,000m³ of bulk earthworks.
- The resited Gypsum material had to be relocated and re-profiled and was then covered with 48,000m² of Geosynthetic Bentonite material liner followed by a 300mm composite drainage layer and 500mm of topsoil and seeded to prevent leachate into local water courses.
- Hewlett carried out all of the Drainage, Excavation, Foundations, Floor Slabs and highway infrastructure to the development.
- Concrete works were completed to a high standard and all works were completed on time and within the original cost budget.
