Hewlett Civil Engineering becomes member of Scottish Renewables
Leading Civil Engineering Company, Hewlett has become a member of Scottish Renewables, Scotland’s leading green energy association.
Hewlett’s Managing Director, Alan Cooper says Scotland is hugely significant within Hewlett’s plans for the future and added that the company is currently looking at a number of opportunities for involvement in renewable energy developments in Scotland.
Since opening its Perth office, which has allowed the Company to service its increasing portfolio of client projects from a local base, the company has also launched Hewlett Renewables, a dedicated division providing a comprehensive range of civil engineering and construction services covering all aspects of site preparation and installation to tailored training and maintenance packages.
Says Managing Director Alan Cooper: “Scotland’s renewables & energy industry is currently going through a major transition, with a massive growth in renewable energy being driven by the impact of both climate change legislation and public opinion. I'm delighted to confirm our membership of Scottish Renewables at such an exciting time for the company and important time for the sector.
“Hewlett brings an excellent range of skills and experience to the industry in Scotland, not least our proven track record of projects including Windy Standard in Dumfries and the current scheme on behalf of SSE (Scottish and Southern Energy) which consists of modifications and improvements to existing roads at some 350 locations between Beauly, near Inverness and Denny near Falkirk.
“Ongoing, we are looking forward to working with clients in the sector to provide practical and effective civil engineering solutions to a variety of renewable energy projects.”
Hewlett is also working with partners Sykamore Ltd - a company dedicated to optimising small-wind generation projects through expert site design and turbine selection - to offer a complete package for landowners wishing to reap the benefits of small-wind including a zero-capital option for those looking to lower their energy bills without having to invest.
Hewlett employs over 600 people, has three regional offices (Perth, Leeds in West Yorkshire and Leamington Spa in the Midlands) and two purpose built training centres providing an extensive range of training programmes for both employer and employee, and covering a wide spectrum of disciplines from telescopic forklift training to safety and managerial courses.
