Hewlett crowned Regional Contractor of the Year at prestigious construction awards
On Monday 22 September, more than 800 construction industry professionals attended the Contract Journal Construction Industry Awards at London's Grosvenor House Hotel to celebrate the best of British construction.
Amongst the companies attending was Leeds-based Hewlett Civil Engineering who was crowned Regional Contractor of the Year ahead of shortlisted entries Thomas Vale Construction, Ocon Construction, Bardsley Construction and Durkan.
Comments Alan Cooper, Managing Director of Hewlett, who collected the award: "This award isn't about individual successes or doing well on one project. It's about how we have performed throughout the year, about how we deliver great projects for our clients, in a safe way, with a highly trained and motivated workforce.
"We provided the judges with evidence of our health and safety performance, how we demonstrate respect for people and how we integrate with our clients. The judging process also took into account how we continue to address fundamental environmental issues and details of workforce training."
"The award is a great acknowledgement for how hard everyone works at Hewlett."
Hewlett Civil Engineering Ltd is a medium sized civil engineering contractor based in Leeds. The company has a trading history of 21 years with a staff and workforce totalling 650 and a plant capability valued at £9.3 million.
The Contract Journal Construction Industry Awards attract many entries, with organisations keen to be seen as one of the best in the construction industry. The evening was hosted by Newsnight's Emily Maitlis and raised almost £10,000 for Marie Curie.
