Hewlett Receives Contract From EDF Energy At Cottam Power Station
Hewlett Civil Engineering has been awarded a contract by EDF Energy to develop upgrades and key modifications to improve reliability and performance of the existing Flue Gas Desulphurisation Plant at Cottam Power Station in Nottinghamshire.
EDF Energy has initiated an upgrade programme at Cottam with regards to essential plant and equipment improvements associated with reliable operation of the 2000MW coal-fired power station. This includes plant integrity improvement related works on the Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) equipment – which reduces sulphur dioxide emissions by up to 94%.
Under the terms of the contract, Hewlett’s remit it to provide civil engineering services, earthworks and specialised site activities together with the associated cooling tower pipework and ancillary site services which will be undertaken in advance of main construction.
