Hewlett receives Environmental Accreditation
Hewlett Civil Engineering continues to develop its approach to environmental best practise and is pleased to announce the Company has recently received a certificate of registration to BS EN ISO14001:2004 Environmental Management System in recognition of this.
Comments Alan Cooper, Managing Director of Hewlett: “A company’s environmental performance can have a significant impact on its success. It’s not enough to talk the environmental message, we have to learn and live by it. At Hewlett we try to practice what we preach and adopt the best environmental practice we can.
“Our environmental responsibility has increasingly become an integral part of our core business values and strategy, rather than an isolated function. Receiving the accreditation is a major milestone in the Company’s development and it takes us to the next level of professionalism in a demanding market.”
In working to achieve this accreditation Hewlett has significantly improved its environmental policy, identified its environmental impacts and put in place a series of objectives, targets, policies and procedures to enable the Company to manage its interaction with the environment more effectively.
Continues Alan Cooper: “We are at the start of a journey and this certification represents the current state of our thinking and of our ability to measure, monitor and so reduce our environmental impact. It is by no means to be considered the complete picture or a finished work.”
Hewlett actively seeks to:
- Minimise the use of all materials, supplies and energy – and wherever possible use renewable or recyclable materials;
- Minimise the quantity of waste produced in all aspects of its business;
- Adopt an environmentally sound transport policy;
- Be a responsible member of the community
- Communicate its environmental policy to all staff and ensure it is implemented and maintained at all levels in the organisation;
- Ensure that the Company continues to meet present and future environmental standards and legislation.
