Hewlett secures over £2.5m of new business.
Hewlett secures over £2.5m of new business in Yorkshire in first month of 2011. Leeds-based Hewlett Civil Engineering has announced two new contract awards totalling more than £2.5m in value that look set to help it continue the growth it enjoyed in 2010.
The company has won a contract for supermarket giant Asda on behalf of RG Group, which is worth over £2million and will see Hewlett commence groundworks in preparation for a new superstore at Chaucer Lane in Sheffield.
Hewlett has also been awarded a £0.5m contract by Leeds Bradford International Airport for a new parking scheme that will further improve the airport’s parking facilities in line with its ongoing expansion plans. Last year Hewlett also successfully completed a contract with the Airport to provide an extension to the existing long stay parking provision.
Remaining ‘cautiously optimistic’ for 2011, Managing Director Alan Cooper said: "These contract wins have certainly helped boost the mood at Hewlett. We have made a positive start to 2011, following our credible performance in 2010, for which we expect to report good earnings growth and year-end turnover of over £45million, an increase of over £10million from the previous year’s figures.
“New order intake remains healthy and whilst we are still mindful of the volatility of the industry, we believe that the company is well placed to achieve another satisfactory outcome for the year as a whole. The new contracts play to our strengths as a multi-disciplined contractor and reflect on our solid track record for combining industry knowledge and expert advice, with the ability to deliver a high standard of service on time and within budget.”
The company employs over 400 staff and bases its head office at Thorpe Park in Leeds. 2010 saw the opening of a new office in Perth, Scotland, a training centre in Wolverhampton and further investment in training.
