Hewlett’s £9million contract wins defy market gloom!
Amidst all the news of the credit crunch and fears of a recession, Leeds-based Hewlett Civil Engineering appears to be bucking the trend with news that it has been awarded two new contracts.
Trinity Leeds is the city’s first one million sq ft retail led mixed use destination and Hewlett Civil Engineering has received confirmation to start work on the drainage and sub-structure scope of works worth an estimated £8million.
The joint venture between Land Securities and Caddick Developments Ltd is located on the prime pitches of Briggate and Commercial Street, and has an estimated completion value of £650 million. Laing O’Rourke is the Principle Contractor.
Hewlett has also started on site at Colne in Burnley for Morrison Supermarkets. The scope of works at the warehouse extension includes sewer diversion, demolition of four existing buildings, a cut and fill operation and construction of piling platforms. The value of the contract is £1.2m.
Says Alan Cooper, Managing Director at Hewlett: “The fact that we are pressing ahead and winning new contracts, despite the tough market conditions, underlines our experience and determination.
“Our clients need a fast, efficient and cost-effective service. Our ability to meet demanding deadlines for completion hand-over have made Hewlett one of the most sought after civil engineering companies in the Yorkshire region and further afield.”
