Scheme Outline: Remediation for a new 250 unit residential development on a former rail sidings bounded by motorway and East Coast Main Rail Line. The principle operation was to remediate the site and construct building platforms.  

Client: Miller Homes.

Value: £450,000.

Additional Details:

• Excavation and recycling of 47,000 tonne of ash contamination - all of which was re-used in concrete block manufacture.

• Reduction in logistics was made by utilising the ash export vehicles to also import the stone fill.

• Reduction in disposal costs by 70%.

• 160,000 tonne of excavated material was re-engineered into validated platform levels.

• Estimated overall savings on the remediation cost was 30% - compared to using traditional techniques. 

• The remediation solution produced a cost plan for the client that confirmed the site to be a more than viable investment.
